Sizing uncertainty is one of the most cited reasons for abandoning a jewellery cart. A shopper who can't answer that question in ten seconds closes the tab and means to come back later.
One size-related return usually costs more than a year of this. That is the whole business case — the extra conversions from shoppers who would otherwise have hesitated are on top.

A bank card, a coin from the shopper's own currency, a folded sheet of A4 or Letter, or a ruler. Not everyone carries a bank card, and a sizer that assumes one isn't global.
About ±0.4 of a US size measuring an existing ring, ±0.65 from a bare finger. Every result shows the range. Shoppers trust a number that admits its limits more than one that doesn't.
The shopper doesn't read a number off a chart and then hunt for it in your dropdown. The widget selects the size for them, so they go straight to the cart.

A 8 mm band wears about half a size tighter than a 3 mm one at the same diameter. The fit model accounts for band width, comfort-fit interiors and knuckle clearance instead of ignoring them.
